To whom it may concern,

My name is Patrick Dunbar and I am interested in a Mechanical Engineering Management position!

Since graduating with a BSME in Mechanical Engineering I have been working on various piping, electrical, and design for automation systems. Most recently I am the senior project manager and co-product line manager for a line of diaphragm compressor made in Arvada, Colorado. My focus is on business development, customer service, and engineering management. I manage projects, engineers, designers and manufacturing staff for the design and manufacturing of the hermetically sealed reciprocating diaphragm compressor product line. I have had to directly manage both projects and engineers to service our internal and external customer needs ranging up to 18 million dollars in back log per year. Previously, I worked in the Mechanical Engineering department for Tetra Tech Rooney in Centennial, Colorado. I was the Project Manager/Engineer for a mid size NGL pipeline injection station project located in West Virginia. I have extensive experience working with ASME B31.3, B31.4, & B31.8 and many associated Codes and Standards for process piping and pipeline piping. I have had the pleasurer to work along side with customers to design and research, solutions for their projects and customers. Before that experience, at URS Corporation, I develop specifications, and managed material requisitions for midstream process and power plant projects mostly in North America and Canada. During my experience at URS, I developed narrative specifications for construction, design, and purchasing of piping components. Preceding my piping experience, I designed Low and Medium voltage switchgear for a mid size manufacturing company.  This position allowed me to work with both high volume and short run custom products ranging from 1500 units a week to one-off custom jobs. Prior to that, I led a team for 3 years at WET Design Enterprises in California, where I helped to build the largest manmade water feature in the world. This project exceeded 87 million dollars with 21 million of products under my team alone.  During the project, I oversaw the engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing of several products, some for which I served as sole or principal engineer. I feel this and my experience working with value engineering, ergonomics, manufacturing, and various CAD Software packages shows my ability to learn and adapt to a company’s engineering needs.

I enjoy challenges and I understand how to meet tough deadlines and work independently. I flew on location in Dubai, AUE where our team worked around the clock for 2+ months. I managed mobs of frantic foreign workers in the installation of the special effects equipment my team and I designed. I think this experience both highlights my character and how I view product design. I understand not only the need for the product to perform but also the need to design easy to install equipment, something I would expect an engineering firm would value.

I am certain that I would make significant contributions to your team, and I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my experience and abilities might best be employed with your company.

Sincerely,

Patrick Dunbar
